So here are a few images I took while on the train (I'm sure I was judged) of things that inspired me.
At the end of our bike trip, we had a day and a half to spend in Portland with no plan. We spent a lot or our time window shopping and eating but I did a google search to find out if there were fabric and knitting stores with things different to what Vancouver has to offer. My search found Knittin Kitten, a shop that sells vintage sewing and knitting supplies. When first entering it feels like you've entered any old thrift store but the stock was great and I felt like there were a lot of gems to be found. I also felt like the prices were better because you didn't pay for someone to make it feel hip and trendy. The owner was very friendly and talkative and we ended up spending over an hour there. I bought some fabric and knitting needles but I also picked up a few knitting magazines from the 70's for the train ride home. These are so entertaining. The images are inspiring, lots of beautiful hair and make up as well as the clothes. I spend most of my time reading the advertisements because it gives me a glimse into a world that seems so foreign. Lots of advertisements for women to work from home doing "women's jobs" like painting roosters on old watering cans and interior design. So here are a few images I took while on the train (I'm sure I was judged) of things that inspired me. I feel like I see similar sweaters to these every fall in Vancouver worn with jeans and boat shoes. These are a little more vintage but could easily pass and I feel like I like them a little more perhaps because they are different. I'd slim the arms down though. Love the panel on the sleeve. 70's ski vacation? Great weekend sweater but I'm not sure if the boat neck works with this aesthetic. Beautiful but I think it would be made more modern by making it with less ease for a closer fit. I don't often want to make men's clothing but I'd knit one of these for my partner. He hates turtlenecks though because he's weird about things on his neck. I like these colours for summer. I'll leave you with a question. Was wearing a belt on your head a thing? Did people do this outside of this one magazine shoot? Would you do this?

Renee. Before I even read this, I have to tell you how PASSIONATELY upset I am by your misuse of the apostrophe. The '70s do not own all of knitting's inspiration. There were other periods for knitting, too (as you know). In related news, I think this video project is getting to me.

This is funny because I made a point of thinking about the apostrophe and then did it wrong. This post was done on my tablet and was a huge headache. Let's chalk it up to that and I'll edit it now.

Turtlenecks are basically the worst ever. Your partner is right -- people should save that discomfort and mild choking sensation for martial arts.
