So it's the last day of June, which seems like the perfect time to recap Me-Made-May. I may be a little late but I've had very little energy the last month. Better late than never right?
This was my first year participating in Me-Made-May and I enjoyed it for the most part. This challenge was made a little more challenging by the fact that I was in my first trimester of pregnancy, which meant that my body kept changing, I was very uncomfortable, and I spent entire days lying in bed vomiting.
So how did it go?
- I almost did it! I missed taking photos a couple of days but no one needs to see a photo of me in my shapeless blob of fleece feeling sick.
- I felt I cheated a bit by counting me-made underwear, but at the same time, me-made underwear has changed my life.
- I found taking a picture every day stressful and felt like a weirdo in my bathroom at work.
- I wore a lot of sweat pants and tee-shirts. As the month wore on my clothing with waistlines and non stretch clothing was a no go. I also, could only fit into my sports bras so this limited options as well and gave me weird uni-boob.
- I wore new to me loose silhouettes. I was trying to hide my weight gain at work and be comfortable so I wore plantain tees and a hemlock tee which are typically not my scene.
- I had to do laundry more often but I think this would have been the case anyway as I quickly had to put most of my clothes in storage as I tend to favour fitted styles.
What did I learn?
How did Me-Made-May go for you? Any tips for dressing for the awkward stage of pregnancy where you don't look pregnant but just got super into eating cheese?
- This wasn't an easy month for me to get dressed, probably not the best time to add more random restrictions to my life.
- Instagram was easy to use and I liked seeing everyone's posts but I found it overwhelming to keep up with. I also found it extremely awkward taking selfies. I have since neglected my account.
- The hemlock tee and plantain tee are great for pregnancy for me but on my body shape I feel like they hang from my chest to my hips making me look like a box. I likely won't wear these much after.
- I think the same goes for the hudson pants in knits. They don't do my shape any favours but they are super comfy so I'll wear them for now. I'm curious to try the woven version in a larger size.
- Me-Made underwear is the BOMB.
- I have some serious wardrobe gap filling to do. Most of the above clothes have now become too small. I don't think that situation is going to get better.
