I started dreaming of a gloriously '70s inspired cowl neck top. I used the Renfrew pattern from Sewaholic Patterns. I love this independent pattern company for many reasons:
- I like Tasia's (the owner and creators) blog.
- It is based in Vancouver. The patterns are all named after local areas which is fun. I also feel being based in Vancouver, the garments suit Vancouver style and climate. It's always good to support local companies too.
- Lots of hand holding, tutorials and clear instructions are included.
- The patterns are designed for pear-shaped ladies. I feel at times that my body type is like a caricature of a person. My features are either big or small there is no neutral (please see exhibit A, my ass, below). One of the things I really love about sewing is not having to feel like a circus freak in the change room at the mall. I can just make clothes that fit and suit me. Not only do the styles suit me but I have to make very few alterations to fit these patterns perfectly for me.
I leave you with a survey, because it's an option on Weebly, and I can:
