So I've moved into the stage of pregnancy where I am "showing" now. This has led to some random ladies making nesting comments to me but the funniest responses I have gotten are at work. The other day I was walking near work and two men were walking behind me singing a Korn song which seemed to consist of only the work fuck. As they passed me, one of the men checks me out and does a double take at my belly. He then stopped and said "excuse me for my potty-mouth ma'am. My friend and I were just singing a song from the band Korn, you know the band Korn right? I'm so sorry." I had another moment in the same day where I was walking past an area with a lot of dealing and one man stood up and had everyone on the corner quiet down while I past, while he wished me a "very pleasant day." It's interesting the values people retain when so much of their life has become hardened by survival. I must say, that this has been a really pleasant surprise for me.
So while I won't wear this skirt to work as it's quite fitted around the bum, I will continue to rock tee-shirts that "show."

This is a repeat of the Erin maternity skirt but this time in a fabric with appropriate levels of stretch. This is a black rib knit that my mom gave me from her fabric stash awhile ago so I feel this skirt is free. With the extra stretch, this skirt is super comfortable. The colour is quite versatile and I actually enjoy wearing it quite a bit. I like that it extends the life of some of my shirts that I can tie up higher as well. The back view is a bit overly va-va-voom and I think it certainly accentuates my already ample behind but I don't have to look at it and if I'm not at work, I don't much care. Pregnancy has made me a lot more pragmatic about my body, which is I feel is a good thing, especially as my curves continue to increase. I feel that instead of trying to hide my body in a tent (which I certainly do in the heat), everyone else should learn to deal with people coming in all sorts of sizes.
What do you think?
